Protecting our children in a digital age, conference for parents in the LFI Foxrock.

Children and young people today are facing unprecedented levels of challenges to their wellbeing. From personal, social and sexual pressures to the impact of technology, social media and pornography, children and adolescents are navigating an increasingly complex world. This talk equips parents with up-to-date knowledge of what children and young people are experiencing online while also providing practical strategies to support their child’s wellbeing, create safe spaces for them at home, and strengthen family communication.

The talk is approximately 70minutes long (not including Q&A) and is for parents/guardians/carers or those working with children and adolescents. It is not suitable for young people under the age of 16.

Eoghan Cleary is a secondary schoolteacher at Temple Carrig School, Co Wicklow. He is a lifelong children’s rights activist currently advocating for the protection of children in an utterly unregulated online world. He is a member of the Online Health Task Force and serves as a director on the board of the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre. He is the author of multiple textbooks, a columnist for The Irish Times and Journal.ie and has masters degrees in Education and International Human Rights Law, among others. He is currently working as an educational expert with the Sexual Exploitation Research and Policy Institute developing and researching the impact of his educational programme on gender stereotypes, media and porn literacy, sexual violence and consent.

The APE's annual general meeting will take place on Thursday, October 3rd at 7 pm, at the Foxrock Gymnasium. Over a glass of wine, we will present the role of the APE, review the past year (projects, finances), and discuss upcoming events. This will also be an opportunity to elect the new board. As a reminder, all parents are members of the association and are welcome to join the board. Feel free to contact us if you would like to get involved!
